Seminar Briefing: Professor Park Jae-woo's Five-Decade Exploration of Sino-Korean Modern and Contemporary Literary Relations from a Comparative Literature Perspective

On the morning of March 27, 2026, the School of Chinese Language and Literature at South China Normal University hosted an academic lecture titled "Sino-Korean Modern and Contemporary Literary Relations from the Perspective of Comparative Literature." The invited speaker was Professor Park Jae-woo, an internationally renowned scholar, Professor Emeritus at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and Distinguished Chair Professor under China's Ministry of Education Changjiang Scholars Program. The lecture was chaired by Professor Ling Yu and was well attended by faculty members and graduate students of the School.

Digital Media: Studies of Literary Supplements in Contemporary Hong Kong Newspapers"

 

The sixth academic symposium of the Major Bidding Project of the National Social Science Fund of China, "Compilation and Study of Literary Supplements in Contemporary Hong Kong Newspapers (1949–2022)", was recently convened in an online format. Themed "Documents, Literature, and Digital Media," the symposium was jointly hosted by the School of Chinese Language and Literature at South China Normal University and its affiliated research centers. It brought together several dozen scholars from institutions including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and systematically showcased the project's latest advances at the intersection of archival cataloguing, literary interpretation, and digital media studies.

Summary of the Academic Symposium "Development and Deepening of Research on Contemporary Hong Kong Newspaper Literary Supplements"

 

On the evening of July 14, 2025, the fifth academic symposium of the Major Bidding Project of the National Social Science Fund of China titled "Compilation and Study of Literary Supplements in Contemporary Hong Kong Newspapers (1949–2022)" was convened in an online format. The symposium was jointly hosted by the School of Chinese Language and Literature at South China Normal University, the Research Center for Aesthetic Culture and Critical Theory, and the Center for Cross‑Boundary Cultural Studies in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area. Core research teams from multiple universities across the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong participated in the nearly five‑hour event, which systematically presented the project's significant interim advances in archival documentation, theoretical construction, and in‑depth case studies.

Summary of the Academic Symposium “New Horizons in the Study of Contemporary Hong Kong Newspaper Literary Supplements”

 

On January 15, 2025, the fourth academic symposium of the Major Bidding Project of the National Social Science Fund of China titled “Compilation and Study of Literary Supplements in Contemporary Hong Kong Newspapers (1949–2022)” (Project No. 22&ZD276) was convened in a fully online format. The symposium was jointly hosted by the School of Chinese Language and Literature at South China Normal University, the Research Center for Aesthetic Culture and Critical Theory, and the Center for Cross‑Boundary Cultural Studies in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area. Nearly forty faculty members and graduate students from universities across the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong participated in the event. The symposium was organized into an opening session, progress reports by sub‑project leaders, thematic presentations by sub‑project members, and a concluding session of academic evaluation and summation. Throughout the proceedings, the scholarly atmosphere was vibrant and the discussions were robust, fully demonstrating the intellectual vitality and depth of the research project.

On June 30, 2024, the third academic symposium of the Major Bidding Project of the National Social Science Fund of China titled “Compilation and Study of Literary Supplements in Contemporary Hong Kong Newspapers (1949–2022)” was convened in a fully online format. The symposium was jointly hosted by the School of Chinese Language and Literature at South China Normal University and its affiliated research institutes, bringing together thirty-five faculty members and graduate students from universities across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao.
