Title: Local Expressions and Transregional Perspectives: Research on the Xing Qiao Literary Supplement of Sing Tao Daily

Abstract: In 1987, Xu Diqiang joined Sing Tao Daily and assumed the role of editor for the supplement Xing Qiao (Star Bridge). During his tenure, he oversaw the editing of two literary special issues, Poetry Page and Reading, which enriched the literary depth of Xing Qiao as a platform for young writers. This paper begins by examining the changes in the Xing Qiao supplement under Xu Diqiang’s editorship, exploring how it balanced encouraging youth creativity with accommodating literary pursuits. Focusing on the two literary special issues, Poetry Page and Reading, it analyzes how Hong Kong local poets articulated urban experiences through poetry and discusses Mainland-Hong Kong literary exchanges under the influence of contemporary issues through literary criticism. The introduction of Poetry Page and Reading transformed Xing Qiao into a platform for constructing Hong Kong’s literary discourse and documenting the trajectory of literary activities.
